Mark 1 Prayer God Jesus Healing

Reading : Verses from Mark, Chapter 1

That evening, at sundown, they brought to Jesus all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered around the door. And he cured many who were sick with various diseases.....

In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and his companions hunted for him. When they found him, they said to him, 'Everyone is searching for you.' He answered, 'Let us go on to the neighbouring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.'

(Church in Wales Lectionary, New Revised Standard Version)

Thoughts

What refreshes your mentally when you're exhausted? For some it's a walk along a beach or in a park or the countryside, and for others it's to spend time with loved ones, or simply to sleep as long as you can.

Jesus was exhausted after teaching and healing the people of Galilee. It took both physical and spiritual power from him. He had taught and healed the people all day, but the next morning he rose early in the dark to spend time with God in prayer - to tune in to God and receive the strength to go on with his work for another day.

During the pandemic we too may feel mentally stressed, or physically exhausted. Turn to God and empty your mind, spend some time with Him alone, and let him fill you with his strength. It works!

Prayer

Lord Jesus,
You understand what it's like
to be exhausted both
mentally and physically.
Give us the strength to continue
living with the problems
and challenges
of our everyday life,
and fill us with Your
healing and restoring power.
Amen.
