Hear my cry, O God;
listen to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I call to you,
when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
that is higher than I;
for you are my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.
(New Standard Revised Version)
Are you feeling confused over changing legislation concerning Covid 19; wanting to work but cannot; worried about family or friends catching the virus; unsure whether to send children back to school; scared you will have no income? There are dozens of reasons why all of us feel the need for help at the moment.
This psalm, probably written by David when his son Absalom sought to take the throne from him, speaks to all of us who might feel in need of help. The only thing stronger than King David is God himself, and he pours out his heart to Him, asking for help.
We too need to turn to God whenever we need help, accepting that He might have a different solution to our problem, though!
Heavenly Father,
we bring to You our worries and concerns this day -
all the things that are on our heart.
We ask that You will hear our cry,
and come to our rescue,
while knowing that Your plans
may be different to ours.
Amen.
