Thoughts for the Day

Monday, 9th November 2020: Seeking God

God Seeking Psalm 24

Reading : Verses from Psalm 24

Puzzle pieces

The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false....

Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

(Church in Wales Lectionary, from the New Revised Standard Version)

Thoughts

Have you ever done "Seek and Find" puzzles? No? These are jigsaw puzzles that have an extra twist. The image on the box is not the same as the actual puzzle, so the puzzle might be what those on the picture are looking at. Another kind have hidden items inside the puzzle box that are not shown in the picture on the front of the box. In these you have to build the puzzle and then find the hidden images within the puzzle.

Today, I just want to look at the notion of seeking God. Like our 'Seek and Find' puzzles we have to actually search for Him. Can we find evidence for God in:

  • the compassion that humans give to others.
  • the love of one person for another.

The First letter of John says this: 'Let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.'

Monday 9th November, follow up thoughts

Prayer

Lord of love,
You have taught us that
You are present wherever there is love.
Help us to see evidence of You
in our world
in those around us,
and in our life.
Amen.
