Genesis 1 Genesis 2 Genesis 3 Adam and Eve Sin God

Reading : Verses from Genesis, Chapter 3

Adam and Eve, Snake and Apple

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, 'Did God say, "You shall not eat from any tree in the garden"?' The woman said to the serpent, 'We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; but God said, "You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it, or you shall die."'

But the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not die; for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.' So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked.

Thoughts

Oh dear poor old Eve, she gets all the blame in future, although we must note that Adam was present and knew what she was doing! Look at Genesis 1 and 2, above, for my thoughts about this picture-story of our Creation!

However, there are some important points for us to note in this story of Adam and Eve:

  • Humans make choices: good and bad!
  • We can choose to reject God's authority!
  • But God desires to rescue us, if we let him!

On a day-to-day basis be honest about your choices, and turn to God allowing Him to rescue you from your mistakes.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
You know the way we make
poor choices in life,
and the way we reject Your ways.
Help us to listen to Your words,
and make the right decisions.
However, when we repent our mistakes
encourage us to turn to You
and ask for forgiveness and help.
Amen.

Follow Up Thoughts

You might like to look up the word "Sin" on this website. It's made by a non-profit-making organisation, and although a little fast paced uses cartoon pictures to look at the word "Sin" throughout the bible. The video lasts about 5 minutes.
