A request to God to be safe
The author of Psalm 16 (probably David) has one request of God. In the first line he says: ''Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge." We don't know what the danger was, but it's probably about to happen. However, he doesn't dwell on it or make any kind of complaint. What he does is remind God of his trust in Him and how he cannot live without God. The tone of this psalm is not one of despair or complaint; it is one of joy. Despite his trouble, David has great trust in God, which is one of the highest honours that he can do Him.
