The story of the two creditors and Simon the Pharisee
Jesus is invited to a meal by Simon a Pharisee - one of those who did their utmost to keep the Law of Moses - but he is given a grudging welcome, as we have seen, with none of the usual observances given to an honoured guest. In the middle of this account Jesus tells the parable of the two creditors. Look up Luke Chapter 7, verses 40-43.
Imagine a line between the back of your church and the main altar. If the woman (who has many sins, but is forgiven) stands by the altar and Simon (who does not know he has any sin) at the back of the church, where would you be?
